nancydrewdangerNancy Drew: Stay Tuned for Danger is for anyone who likes a good mystery with plenty of challenges, intrigue and suspense. This multi-level interactive game, made for girls ages 10 and up, has complicated clues and puzzling twists. Truly, you’ve got to be a dedicated Nancy Drew super sleuth to figure out this one! But, don’t give up.

Software that is this mind-boggling can be just the thing you need to take your mind off of school or a good way to enjoy a long summer vacation! Parents certainly will get their money’s worth when buying this software for their pre-teens or teens. Hours and hours of fun awaits so what are you waiting for?

Check out their bulletin board where you’ll find clues from other girls and even some pleas for help when they are stuck in one part of the adventure. It’s safe for kids to post on this secure bulletin board, as their e-mail addresses are not included in their postings.

There’s no turning back! Once you start this interactive mystery game, it’s like firing up Nancy Drew’s vintage Mustang convertible. You’ve got to solve this case! You might not get a good night’s sleep if you’re stuck and as a Nancy Drew nut, it’s your duty to turn every clue upside down and backwards until you get it right. This CD-ROM makes a great conversation piece! Even little brothers come in handy–many of them are experienced gamers (even the Pokemon GameBoy players are good at gathering clues!) and are ready for this challenging mystery.

Expertly designed with an intricate script and a slick interface, this software lets girls (and guys!) play Nancy Drew as she goes undercover to help TV’s hottest soap hunk, Rick Arlen, who is receiving “weird and totally bizarre” death threats. As an undercover extra on the show, “Light of Our Love”, kids wander the halls of a television studio and explore everything from stars’ dressing rooms to the set’s prop room.

As an official super sleuth, you can read letters on desks, open drawers, collect keys and ID cards to gain access into forbidden areas and even get a behind the scenes tour on what it’s like to be a real star with an ego the size of Texas!

While playing the software, it’s good to keep a notepad by your side as you make out your list of prime suspects. I’m not giving away this very intricate plot, but I will say that boys seem to enjoy this mystery as much as girls!

You can navigate your way through New York City by hopping a cab (luckily, someone’s picking up the tab for these costly fares as Nancy sure gets around!) from the studio to Rick’s co-star, Mattie’s apartment and to Mattie’s agent. The key to this game is being observant as you comb for clues.

The only way to stop the “ugly and twisted letters”, including a box of poisoned chocolates, is to expose the “dangerous perpetrator.” To do this, kids can play interactive puzzles, brain teasers, and reveal hidden messages as they interact with a bunch of interesting characters.

My testers, a boy and girl (ages 8 and 15) loved trying “to unravel the web of deceit and lies” around the suspects. Can you discover the truth before the final curtain call? There’s only one way to find out. Play this software!

We even went to the web site’s bulletin board to post a couple of times when we were stuck in the game. Thanks to everyone who helped out and a special thank you to the patient folks .
Ideally, we’d like to see more hints (or cheats) posted on the web site for everyone who may need a little help playing this game. Aside from collecting clues, there’s isn’t much built-in help in this game, other than using the virtual phone from time to time as you can discuss the case with Nancy’s friends. Unfortunately, this software is available on the PC platform only. It would be nice to see this available as a hybrid so that Mac users can join in on the fun!

Which is scheduled to release later this year. In the meantime, we’re happy to include Nancy Drew: Stay Tuned for Danger as one The REVIEW ZONE’s Best of 2000 winners in exceptional edutainment software.
