…The
version 1.1 drivers that ship with the card have been extremely stable,
which is more than I can say for my Hercules GeForce 2 drivers. From others
I have talked to, this is not something that only I am experiencing, as
there are many reports of problems getting GeForce 2s to even work reliably.
This is definitely a factor to consider when buying a card…

…. And since I haven’t heard much about when Diablo II would be
arriving in stores, I dialed up my local Electronics Boutique and
confirmed with them that it would be in stores on June 29th.
Speaking of which, I also got word from them that Deus Ex will,
indeed, be landing in stores on June 23rd." ~voodooextreme.com

…As
the newest incarnation in the Duke Nukem series, Duke Nukem Forever was
originally planned to utilize the Quake II engine. After deciding that the
current Quake technology was inadequate to fully realize their vision of the
what the game should be,…
Unreal
repackaged with different weapons and enemies. Adding to the fantastic
visuals and capabilities of the Unreal/Unreal Tournament engine, 3D Realms
has integrated many enhancements in their overhaul of what is one of the
most popular 3D engines available. …

Nukem Forever and Voodoo Cards

I saw
over on VoodooExtreme that 3DRealms’ George Broussard has posted to the

official Duke Nukem
Forever message board

with a comment that Voodoo-based cards will better in Duke Nukem Forever.
One thing to remember is the game does not have a projected release date
until Q2 2001, so I am sure that there is plenty of potential for changes in
hardware by that time with plenty of 3dfx competition. By then we should
have the GeForce4 :) Anyway… here is that post from the message board from
George:

>>The Direct X drivers for UT are good but still not close to running the
game on a V3 or v5.

Will GLIDE still be a step up in preformance on DNF? If so that info alone
will influence my next card being a geforce2 or voodoo5 (6000 of course)

Honestly? Yes.

Unreal is
clearly a Glide based game and I think it will always perform better on
Glide cards. So if you want the best performance, look at that option.

That said, we will try to do what we can with the D3D drivers, but in
reality, Epis has spent a year on them, so I’m not sure what more we can
gain over that." ~ thx Jeremy Allford @

>>>> Deus Ex Mirrors (this game
uses the Unreal Egine, so gilde is an option for 3dfx users)

"I am
still about 1 hour away with finishing the local copy of Deus Ex, so I
figured you could use some other mirrors to pick it up from as well.
